Emily Woodruffe’s story begins like many others with coming to the Yukon for a summer adventure, but finding herself still here 21 years later. Both the landscape and the incredible arts community are what nourishes her love of this place, and are a source of constant inspiration for her ceramics work.

Emily works part time as an emergency room nurse at Whitehorse General Hospital. Making pottery serves as a welcome contrast to the often hectic pace of nursing, and gives her  balance in a life as a mother too.

Her work is almost all produced on the wheel with some hand built additions or alterations, then fired in an electric kiln in oxidation. My focus is on functional work with interesting surface texture and decoration, playful forms, and earthy glaze tones. All pieces are made of stoneware and are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.

Emily is currently making teapots, mugs, buttons, pendants, dinnerware, and magnets and always looking for fun new things to make with clay. Prices are wide ranging so as to appeal to many different buyers.
